Needlework Sampler

This colorful sampler was stitched by Sarah at age 9 in 1811. She included a verse with reference to learning
and virtue.
When Sarah Coburn Ridgeway was born on June 23, 1802, in Worcester, Massachusetts, her father, James, was 23, and
her mother, Faith, was 19. She married George Trowbridge Mixer on May 5, 1823, in Keene, New Hampshire. They had
four children in 13 years. She died on November 19, 1871, in Butler, Ohio, at the age of 69.
Silk on linen; 15 ¾" x 14 ¾" sight.
Note: Her next younger sister Elizabeth stitched a sampler when she was nine years old in 1813. The two samplers
have many similarities.
