The sampler is inscribed: Eliza Peverly's Sampler wrought in the/ thirteenth year of her age A.D 1820. The bottom
panel depicts the classis characteristics of Canterbury samplers, the center basket apposing cantus leaves, inward
facing birds, bracketing trees, and hillocks across the bottom, all outlined in black. This is the only known example
with a solid queen-stitch background on the bottom and sides.
