EUNICE LADD
Sanbornton, Belknap, NH, c. 1825
Eunice Ladd her sampler wrought in her 12th year
The large central basket of flowers is typical of samplers worked at several schools throughout Belknap County.
The use of a dark linsey-woolsey (fabric woven with a linen warp and wool weft) make the lettering and designs
contrast with the background.
Eunice was born October 18, 1813, one of six children of John Ladd and Mehitable Gale. She married John Lawrence
in 1831.
Silk on green linsey-woolsey; 15 ½" x 17 ¾" sight, 18 ½" x 20 ¾"
framed.
