This 18th century American sampler was probably worked in Boston, Suffolk County, MA. The classic three-sided
sawtooth border is a dominate characteristic of 18th century samplers from Middlesex and Suffolk Counties.
Geneology research points to a Rebecca Barrett who was born in 1788 in Boston, Suffolk, MA in 1788. She would have
been seven years old when she worked this sampler. At age 29 she was married at the Old North Church in Boston
to George Harris (1788-1868).
