Ira and Jerusha (Arnold) Shailer were married in 1803 and lived in Haddam, CT. They had 10 children; eight girls and two boys, one of who died as an infant. Of the girls, anyone of five of different sisters could have worked this sampler. It was worked at Miss Anna Cornwall's school in Glastonbury CT. Other very similar samplers from this school were made between 1827 and 1831.

Professionally framed. Overall very good condition. Some staining, and a small hole at the top right

Silk on linen; 19.75 x 20.25 inches framed, 16.5 x 16 sight.
