Susan E. Newton Newton Family Record Sampler Roxbury, MA 1835 This very colorful family record sampler is inscribed: Wrought by Susan Elliot Newton. Aged 11 years. Roxbury. 1835. The solidly stitched center is inscribed with the names, birth, and marriage dates of her parents and the names and birth dates of their eleven children. Susan was the ninth child and the youngest girl. Susan included a verse and inscription honoring a sister she never knew who died at age 6 months. Susan's family lived near the corner of Warren Street and Kearsarge Avenue in Roxbury, MA, which is now part of Boston. Her father, Antipas of Westborough, MA, was a soap-manufacturer in Roxbury. Her Mother Elizabeth Carter was born in Sudbury, MA. Silk on linen; 31 ¾" x 32 ¼" with the original frame.
