Needlework sampler wrought by Mary Frances Low of Lime Ridge Was. Born in March 6 1837.
Lyme Ridge, (the Was. Is a?), is a small town on the Susquehanna River in east central Pennsylvania. Mary was
the daughter on Isaac Low and Maria Millar of Lime Ridge. Mary married Mr. Barton, and at age 74 on 4 Dec. 1911,
she died in Scranton, PA.
Zig-zag border dotted with strawberries or flowers surrounds lines of alphabets, and information about Mary Low.
The bottom of the sampler consists of a six line poem entitled The Rose, and the date 1849. There is a dividing
border above of two floral baskets and a central floral spray, along with two small urns.
Condition: Professionally framed. Overall excellent condition, with some very light fading.
Silk on linen; 20-1/2 x 15-1/4 inches framed, 16.75 x 11.5 sight.
