Very colorful and impressive sampler with its original bold mahogany frame and hanging bracket. Inscribed: C.
R. Browns. Work./ 11th Ma 1843.
The sampler features an extract from an original song that accompanies a poem The Scots Soldier's Lament that appears
in THE LITERARY GAZETTE January 6, 1827 page 42, published in London.
The motifs and border are comprised of brightly colored, heavily embroidered flowers.
Wool on linen; 30 ½" x 27 ¼" framed.
