This charming 18th century Connecticut sampler features a large center-hall pink house flanked by two stylized
trees. It belongs to a group of samplers from the New Haven area. The inscribed reads: Polly Beachers Sampler Wrought
December Th 13 1795/ In The Eleventh Year Of Her Age Born April 9 1985.
Polly (1785-1826) was the oldest of 7 children born to Ebenezer B. Beecher III and Mary A. Baldwin. At age 18,
she married William Beecher (1780 - 1839), and she died in July of 1826, all in Woobridge, New Haven, CT.
The condition is excellent, no holes or loss of threads, or stains, and it retains good color.
Silk on linen; 13.25 x 11.25 inches framed.
