JUDD FAMILY MEMORIAL
Worked by Sarah Judd
Abby Wright's School
South Hadley, Massachusetts circa 1810
Silk embroidered memorials were very popular in the early nineteenth century. This example was worked at Abby
Wright's School in South Hadley, MA. The use of heavy metallic thread to embellish the monuments is a unique characteristic
of the Abby Wright School.
Inscribed on the monument:
In Memory of
Jacob W. Judd who died May 3rd 1805 / Aged 18 years
Clarissa Judd who died July 4th 1808 ? Aged 7 years
