Canvaswork pictures were popular in the middle and late 18th century. This one is profuse with
flowers and vines over a stitched brown background creating a subtle but rich palette. It resembles three other
similar pieces, one dated 1775 with a Boston provenance and the others have Stonington, CT associations.
