Needlework Sampler

This large extremely complex sampler features alphabets, 12 crowns each with two sets of initials, verses, flowering
bands and scattered motifs, and a very opulent house and gardens at the bottom.
Judging from the borders, and the inscriptions, it appears that this sampler was worked in two separate sections
by two sisters and joined together.
The top half contains the inscriptions: Jane Lang 12 years of age and (H Margt Macswam ??), and the bottom half
contains the inscription: Mary Lang aged 13 years 1 March
Wool and silk on linen; 36 x 16 inches framed.
