This unusual map of the world suspended by a spread eagle was created by Rosamond Wood (1803-1885) most likely
as a teaching tool. Rosamond attended school at Kimball Union Academy in Plainfield, NH from 1822-1824. In 1825
she was teaching in Hanover, NH and in 1826 back in Plainfield and in 1828 in St. Johnsbury, VT. In 1830 she married
Dr. Adoniram Smalley, they had six children. Rosamond was one of six children to Roger Wood and Achsha Tilden.
