This extraordinary coat of arms was stitched by Harriot Morley in 1808 at the distinguished Misses' Pattens
school in Hartford, CT. This was the only CT school known to have produced these magnificently embroidered arms.
Harriot (1790-1832) born in Springfield, MA was the daughter of David Morley (1770-1815) and Hannah Griswold (1770-1848).
She married Roswell King (1788-1866) and they had nine children and lived in Suffield, CT. Silk, metallic thread,
and paint on silk; 23 3/8" x 19 ¾" with frame.
