HOPE This silk embroidery was stitched by Marie Melcher in 1810 while attending the George Dame school in Portsmouth, New Hamphire. Geaoge Dame, a respected miniture portrait painter, painted the face on this silk embroidery. The glass and frame are original. The compisition is a wonderful rendetion of Hope leaning on an anchor with a squre ridded American ship in the background. Silk and watercolor on silk; 12 1/4" x 10 1/4" framed. Sold |
