TThis graphic silk embroidery is one of a very small but distinctive group of embroideries from a yet unidentified
school in Chambersberg, PA.
Ellenor was born in 1792 to James Colhoun and Agnes Thompson. She was one of eight children and at age eight she
worked this sampler. At age 25 she married James Coulbertson as his second wife and moved to Zanesville, Ohio where
they had six children. She was a widow for six years before she died at age 61 in 1853.
