Inscribed: Emily Pickett was/ born, July 20, A.D. 1810/ Wrought this sampler1825/ in the 16 year of her age.
Verse: May trust and virtue guard your heart/ Nor hope nor peace nor joy depart

Emily was born near Newbury, MA in Rowley or Georgetown. Her parents were Benjamin and Sarah Pickett both born in Marblehead, MA. In 1834, at age 24, she married Samuel Meader (1809-1845) who died of consumption, and had twin daughters, Caroline and Emily, born in 1838. She died in Peabody, MA at age 81, February 22, 1891 leaving us this beautiful sampler and a wish for our happiness (note the verse).
