Inscribed: FUNERAL BARGE CONVEYING NELSONS BODY/ GREENWICH TO WHITEHALL 1806
This very graphic “wooly” depicts the naval hero Lord Nelson’s funeral barge being rowed about 6 miles up the River
Thames from Greenwich to Whitehall in 1806. “They were all in mourning cloaks over their full uniform coats. The
banner of emblems was borne in this barge, by Lord Nelson’s own captain, Captain T. M. Hardy”. Much is available
on the internet about this historic event.
