Meayberry Family Genealogy
Needlework sampler
Casco, ME c.1728
This rare large graphic genealogy sampler was likely stitched by Susan Augusta Meayberry. It is inscribed with
the names, birth, and marriage dates of her parents and there “progeny” of nine children.
The top is enhanced with a depiction of a dog, several birds, flowers, trees, and a grand house with a small house
in the background. The man with extended open arms and the lady may be representing the maker’s parents. The sampler
is bracketed with large flowering side borders and retains its large mahogany veneered frame.
Silk on linen; 30 ¾” x 22 ¾” framed.
