Lydia Hall aged 12 years in 1829, stitched this sampler in Deerfield, Massachusetts while attending a school
now referred to as the "White Dove School", (note the white doves bracketing the verse). This is a common
motif found on samplers from this school. Lydia included the teachers name Mercy D. Williams. The frame is a 19th
century reproduction. STEPHEN & CAROL HUBER |
