Mary H. Garrison Goshen, Cape May County, NJ Dated 1837 Mary born Nov. 26, 1823 embroidered this large graphic sampler with stylized peacocks, birds, dog, butterfly and a central vase of flowers. She included initials representing herself (MHG) and family members, and a verse touting the pleasure, comfort, and joy derived of religion. Inscribed: Mary H. Their children were Melissa (MG), *Mary (MHG), Elizabeth (EAG), William (WFG). She married John W. Swain 1 Dec. 1841 and they had a son Humphrey Swain abt. 1843.
