Quaker Needlework Sampler
Columbiana County, Ohio dated 1822
This unusual Quaker sampler is adorned at the top with elements usually associated samplers influenced by the
German culture while the bottom half exhibits the classic motifs and design elements found on other Quaker samplers.
Martha, her two sisters Lucy and Judith and mother Mary Ferrall joined the Middleton Monthly Meeting of Friends
in Middleton, Ohio which was associated with the large Salem Friend's School.
