Anna worked this early Newbury sampler at age 14. It is inscribed: Anna Fowler Born March 2 1729 This/ Sampler
I did the Year 1754. She included the verse Goodness and mercy ever follow those who/ Shape their Conduct by gods
holy Laws Anna.
Anna was the 8th of 9 children born to Quaker Samuel Fowler (1703-1738) and Abigail Morgaridge (1725-1884). In
1772 at age 33 she married Blacksmith Samuel Jackman (b.1738) and they lived in Boscawen, NH.

Silk on linen; 18 ¾" x 12 ¼" sight, 20 ¾" x 14 ¼" framed.
