Birds and Flowers
Pair of embroidered pictures
English, Circa 1660
This rare set of 17th century needlework pictures, with equally rare frames, are worked
with very fine silk and metallic thread centers, and wool needlepoint borders.
One depicts a bird on a branch surrounded with flowering vines and berries, the other a large complex central flower
between two facing perched birds.
The incredible startling decorative mid-17th century frames are original to the pictures.
Silk, wool, and metallic thread on linen; 10 1/4 x 13 1/2 inches framed.
