Raised & Padded needlework picture Greek mythology figures English c.1660-75 This are large raised and padded, (stumpwork - a much later term), 17th century English embroidery features a male figure between two female figures all standing in a central oval cartouche. One female figure is holding a bow and arrow, the other is holding a flaming heart. The figures depict Greek mythology characters representing Hestia, with the heart, who is the aunt of Apollo, center, and his twin sister Atriums with the bow and arrow.
