SARAH KUHN

This very large beautifully executed silk embroidered memorial worked by Sarah Kuhn at aged 19, depicts three
figures dressed in mourning costume standing on both sides of a monument. The figures probably represent Sarah
and her parents. The plinth is inscribed IN MEMORY OF DANIEL KUHN who died Oct. 23d. 1810 AEt 7 years.
Sarah, who lived on Cambridge St. in Boston was the oldest of 10 children born to John Kuhn and Sarah Lapham. She
married George Fuller in 1812completed this elaborate memorial to her younger brother in 1812 two years after his
death, and also got married the same year.
She married George Fuller and they had 8 chrildren.
Silk and watercolor on silk; 32 ¼” x 38 ¼” framed.
