FISHING LADY
Boston, Massachusetts c.1760

Extremely rare folk art mid-18th century Boston needlework picture with an original composition, most are copied from prints. It includes depictions of a fishing lady, a flutist next to a resting dog, another dog chasing a stag, and a large parrot eating a cherry. In the background is a red brick house with a walled garden and an outbuilding next to what appears to be a chain dam surrounded by a bucolic setting enhanced with mill ponds, various animals, birds, flora, and fauna.

Descended in the Murdock family of Boston, MA.

Silk and wool on linen; 16 5/8' x 24 3/4" sight.
