Emily worked this charming sampler with a highly developed border and house at aged 11. It is inscribed: Emily
Stark's sampler made in the/ 11th year of her age. August 16th 1830.
Emily, b.1820 was the third of seven children all born in Groton, CT to Daniel Stark b.1762 and his second wife
Betsey Reed b. about 1793 who was 29 years younger than Daniel.
Silk on linen; 16 ¼" x 12 1/2" sight, 18 ¾" x 15" framed.
