ELISABETH SNOW
Salem, Massachusetts
c. 1803
Elifabeth Snow Wrought This Aged 12
Typical of samplers worked in the Salem area, Elisabeth included corner cornucopias and a large floral border.
The odd shaped sheep are found on earlier pieces from the area. The strange letter O in the cursive alphabet is
also a Salem feature.
Elisabeth is possibly the daughter of Asa Snow and Betty Mansfield, born April 26, 1791 in Danvers, and married
Henry Osborn in 1810.
Silk on green linsey-woolsey; 21 ½” x 14 ½” sight.
