Cartography was one of the many disciplines young schoolgirls studied in school. Creating decorative watercolor
or needlework maps not only aided in remembering geography lessons but enhanced their artistic skills. This example
highlights Europe bordered by the Northern Ocean, Asia, Africa, and the Atlantic Ocean all surrounded with a flowering
vine border. It is inscribed; Done by G Smerdon 20 November 1813.
