Mary Greenleaf Antique needlework sampler Ann Waters Woodman School Newbury, MA 1796 Mary wrought this stunning sampler at aged 10 while attending the Ann Waters Woodman school in Newbury, MA. The distinctive facing parrots are a well known characteristic of the school as is the trefoil border. Mary (1786-1863) was one of nine children born to Abner Greenleaf (1761-1853) and his wife Sarah Hale (1766-1853) in Newbury, MA. Mary married William Carr (1781-1855) in 1805.
