Salisbury, England dated 1731
The sampler is profusely embroidered with interesting verses and a double lettered alphabet without the letter
The inscription reads: ANN GOODFELLOW IN THE 12 YEAR OF/ HER AGE 1731
Possibly this was worked by the Ann Goodfellow that was oldest child born to William and Rose (Harvy) Goodfellow
in Salisbury in 1718. When Ann worked this sampler at age twelve, she had a five year old sister. Also she had
two younger brothers that died as infants.
Silk on linen: 12" x 7 ¾" sight.
