Margrat McClymont
Probably Scotland dated 1830
Margrat worked this sampler with three alphabets, numerals, and an inspirational quotation by Alexander Pope.
(Teach me to feel another's woe ----) She also included the words "Candour is Amiable".
Flowers, trees and animals enhance the bottom and a Greek key border surrounds the entire sampler.
Margrat has left us with a reminder of personality traits we should all strive for. Think of the synonyms for the
phrase Candor is Amiable.
Frankness is Likeable
Honesty is Friendly
Openness is Sociable
Truthfulness is Agreeable
Sincerity is Kind
The inscription at the bottom reads: Margrat McClymont's Work Stran'r Oct'r 1st 1830
